guided tour full of talks on cultural history, traditions and nature with one of the country girls as your guide

Around and in Noorbeek,
the Netherlands’ First Iconic Landscape

In April 2018, Noorbeek was proclaimed by de Vereniging Nederlands Cultuurlandschap as the first iconic landscape of the Netherlands, and as luck would have it, one of our very own country girls was born and raised in this lovely little village. As you can imagine, she’s quite knowledgeable about the beautiful walking paths that will lead you to the various fairytale-like spots this landscape has to offer, and she’d love nothing more than to share all of this with you. The route will start in Mheer, and take us through the hills and valleys of Noorbeek, eventually ending back in Mheer where we began. So strap on your boots and get ready for a wonderful walk, stories on age-old traditions, and a handful of personal anecdotes that will surely have you coming back for more!

the start
We’ll start from the car parking area opposite the church of Mheer, Burgemeester Beckersweg. Also easily reachable by public transport, from the main station in Maastricht: Arriva bus line 57. Get out at Mheer-Kerk. Check or the app 9292.

the walk
A round of about 8 km. Quite some climbing and declining. Over paved roads, country roads and grasslands. You definitely need good walking shoes. Please bring sufficient drinks. With all the stops you should count on a trip of about 3 to 3.5 hrs. You feel hungry after the trip? Plenty of restaurants in Mheer and Noorbeek.
